In November of 2006 From the Gut had the honor of being asked to curate/create a show at local art space Alley Culture. After considering many angles, we decided to attempt a more straightforward curation, but to do so in a way that would transform the space of the gallery and create a deep ambiance. The theme we chose, 'Hope Thought Darkness,' attempted to combine the at odds focus of the overly positive with the overtly negative and suggest a balanced approach to artistic expression and even beyond that - to life. We featured works primarily from Detroit artists, but also a few other individuals who have been crucial to our development. In the end darkness became something not to be feared, but rather to be accepted, and then on the other side - light.
